ATLT (all these little things) is my original self-published novel. You can find it here if you haven't read it: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/all-these-little-things-marie-strobel/1124829562?type=eBook
Regardless, this little section of Flustered Neutral will be dedicated to the sequel to my book, and will mostly contain excerpts, concerns, and vents surrounding the book, Uncommon Empathy.
My first concern is SEX!
I want to include a scene of intimacy in this novel, but I don't want it to be in the published book. I want it to be exclusive to online fans of the book.
I'm concerned as well with how I will write this, since the last time I wrote a sex scene was back when I still wrote fanfiction for the anime Soul Eater.
I'll be including some spoilers too, but I'll mark them.
Nope, I will be 100% honest, I have probably 30 pages worth of totally unedited work done after 6 months of working on this nightmare.
Only last night did I come up with a storyline that I felt comfortable and confident in. SPOILER!
It will be a little something featuring Kit and Alan!
So, that will be fun.
The basic story so far is that Alan is absolutely desperate for a new adventure. No longer having Paul to muck up his life in interesting ways, (the Holmes to his Watson) Alan goes sort of stir crazy.
Along comes Saul, a sort of generic Paul who just leeches off of Alan's fame to get chicks. Through him, Alan meets Max, Saul's brother, a divorcee with a daughter and a dog. Alan becomes sort of entrenched and fascinated with how Max challenges Alan on literally everything. Alan, being a masochist (come on, we know he is,) is drawn to Max's semi-negative and domineering energy.
Max asks Alan to write a book about his father, a painter who lives in the Carolina mountains (we're heading back to my homelands for this one,) and although Alan refuses at first, he eventually gives in.
But Alan is far from alone on this road trip, because a fan favorite and a certain lovable pup are joining him.
Sound good?
The way I have it laid out so far, the book can stand on it's own without the first novel. I like that, I don't want readers needing to skim through the first book to remember things. All you need to know is, SPOILER,
Paul was Alan's best friend and he died of cancer a year ago, and that Kit was one of Paul's widowed lovers (he was polyamorous.) All this is easily explained in the sequel.
If you'd like, here's an excerpt from what is easily going to be one of my favorite scenes
SPOILERRRRS!
Once this is polished, it will hopefully be actually sexy. For now I just find it cute, Kit is like Alan's new Paul, who he just so happens to be massively attracted to.
Then again, perhaps there was some attraction to Paul too. Though it's also quite obvious that Paul was as straight as a pole and would have never gone for it even if Alan decided "yeah, maybe I play for both teams."
I once asked a friend to write some PaulxAlan love for me, simply because I was curious on what it would be like, and I didn't really want to write it myself (I feel like for some reason it would make me upset if I did.)
Anyhow, I have no idea what triggered me to discuss a possible bisexual Alan Eberly, though it is something I have pondered.
looking forward to the sequel. Also looking forward to designing the cover.
Any ETA?
