How Earth's growing tropical zone may lead to more droughts and hotter heatwaves on Australia's east coast
This is simply a grab at publicity. The tropics are defined by the limits of the sun being overhead so the tropics cannot change. The underlying finding is that there is drying on both sides of the tropics. But drying is an effect of cooling. Warming would produce MORE rain, not less. So the phenomenon does not indicate global warming. It in fact contradicts it
A leading academic [An adjunct profesor is "leading"?] says the Earth's growing tropical zone may lead to more droughts and hotter heatwaves in Australia.
CQ University's Adjunct Professor of Environmental Geography Steve Turton said temperatures could reach more than 40C in Sydney and Melbourne during heatwaves and last for two weeks, The Daily Telegraph reported.
With the area between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn currently 'bulging' and heading poleward, Adjunct Prof Turton said this will have an impact on the nation.
The planet's waistline has been growing since 1979 and it is likely to continue thanks to human activity, Adjunct Prof wrote in a piece for The Conversation.
'If the current rate continues, by 2100 the edge of the new dry subtropical zone would extend from roughly Sydney to Perth,' he said.
'As these dry subtropical zones shift, droughts will worsen and overall less rain will fall in most warm temperate regions.'
Adjunct Prof Turton said the geographical location of Australia placed the nation at high risk of an expanded tropical zone.
He added: 'Future climate change projections for Australia include increasing air and ocean temperatures, rising sea levels, more hot days (over 35C), declining rainfall in the southern continental areas, and more extreme fire weather events'.
Adjunct Prof Turton said biodiversity hotspots in Australia could also feel the effects of the tropical zone expansion as there were 'no suitable land areas (only oceans) for ecosystems and species to move into'.

im not saying that it will happen on earth just saying that greenhouse science does have its reasons for belief. in science cause and effect are very real. all the co2 we are pumping does have some current (pot has gotten better in the last 40 years) and future effects. co2 when its mixed with water makes carbonic acid. but there will be other effects in the future for sure. could be temperature changes in both ways(up or down) and many other effects to the weather for starters. i climate change and global warming are names that miss the point. they were early attempts to understand the effect of burning fossil fuels on the whole planet.(dont stop til my coal mine is done) ive heard what you thinks it not (i halfass agree) but what do you think it will cause?(other than me gettin paid)(and better pot)
(oh venus gravity is lower than ours , the "weight" is that its sulfuric acid , a heavier gas not like stars that heat by gravitational effects but the insulation effect)
The high Venusian surface temperature is an adiabatic effect -- a function of the great weight (hence pressure) exerted by the huge Venusian atmosphere. The earth has no such atmosphere so anything similar on earth cannot occur
increase in heat will increase the capacity for air to hold moisture. but the humidity levels while would be effected its not that straight forward. the 2 driest places ive been are iraq and Alaska. one of hottest places and the other the coldest, yet both extremely dried but humidity levels. Alaska snows because it the cold air pushes what moisture there out of the air, yet iraq air holds more water(mass) per volume of air than alaska on average . yet it almost never rains there( i got to see the only snow in iraq for the last 50 years in 2008, only 20 mins but still) . look into Boyle gas laws to get an idea whats all involved ( pressure / temp / volume and saturation for extra ) point of this is weather is a very complex dynamic system thats hard to understand even with todays best science and technology.
seeing a lot ive seen from you is trying to prove climate change is wrong, green house effect it very provable. why is Venus hotter than mercury ? i know this doesn't mean co2 is a stronger greenhouse gas than are current atmosphere but it shows theory in reality. i dont think its going to kill the planet , just change it in ways. all that co2 will boost plant growth for sure(ever grow co2 boosted pot, goddamn ). more important is its turning the oceans in to seltzer water. im not saying we need to stop burn all fuel right now (i got a coal mine after all) but denying it could exist and stopping all research and hoping everything ok is just retarded. when you do complex industrial stuff your fuck ups effect massive amounts of people. there could be better all around ways that are worth it in the future if we start developing them now( fusion/ thorium /fuel cells/ child slavery).
