So I've noticed a disturbing trend with my head lately. Past few months I've been getting horrible, horrible headaches that last from sunrise to sunset, about one of these nasties visits me every week or so. Until now, I haven't been able to trace a possible cause, they just seemed random.
And then I noticed something; today, after gobbling a concoction of pills (not dangerously, I took two ibuprofen, two Tylenol, and two Asprin about three hours apart from each other, none of them helping the pain whatsoever,) I decided to take a cup of coffee to the gut.
The pain left immediately. I nearly cried of happiness.
When I say nearly cried of happiness, I mean I'm still nearly in tears. This headache had put me out of commission for nearly the entire day, from 11AM to 9PM, with a constant stabbing, throbbing pain.
And now of course I'm wide awake at 12AM.
Anyhow, the thing is, this definitely seems reminiscent of caffeine withdrawal. My mother described similar symptoms when she went longer than a day without a cup of coffee.
Thing is, I wouldn't consider myself addicted to caffeine. I very rarely have a cup in the morning, maybe two if it's a writing day, but for the most part I get along without coffee very well. In fact, I try and stay away from it considering I dislike the jitters and sleepless nights that come with the territory.
Now don't get me wrong, I do love coffee. Coffee and tea are two of my "must have" beverages, drinks that I don't crave every day, but need them in the house because when I do want them, nothing will stop me from getting them (not really a describable craving, just I really want it. Hard to explain.)
However, I have never had a true craving for coffee. For tea, yes, for coffee, no. I know many teas have caffeine too, some more than coffee, but I try steering towards calming teas, fruity teas, and nighttime teas, and only have black tea as a backup when my other stashes are low.
So, I just don't understand why I would have caffeine withdrawals if I'm not addicted to coffee. Has anyone else had a similar problem before?
I'm going to try drinking a cup of coffee every day for the next week and see if the headaches let up. If so, I think I have my answer.
caffeine is NOTIHNG like meth. meth is dopemine based caffeine based off lower strength adenosine receptor. but caffeine added to high strength head ache meds with everything else you took together at once. its has a synergy effect to improve pain removal. you reinvented migraine meds
I love the comic at the end XD
Indeed, caffeine is addictive. I never thought of it being similar in terms of symptoms to meth though. I try taking my coffee with very little, if any sugar at all since my eczema acts up if I overdo it.
Sadly, I probably am addicted, as I've been drinking one cup every day since I wrote this post and I haven't had one headache. I feel tired but can't sleep, and always wake up groggy when I do.
I need to kick this habit :/
Something that people tend to not realise because it's being so fucking covered up by the coffee industry is that caffeine is like a weaker version of meth. It literally has all the exact same things. The drug speeds up heart rate, increases awareness temporarily, etc. When you take meth day by day it compounds and your body soon is fueled by meth to the point that it collapses from bad health. Same thing with caffeine. In WWII German soldiers were all given meth to keep pushing through Russian front, that's how the blitzkrieg worked. Day and night working taking meth, until eventually they collapsed because their body needed sleep, and many died. You're seeing this but on a much longer term scale. People are getting less sleep because they "don't need it" cause they have coffee. Caffeine today is going to be the tobacco of the 1900's, I guarantee it. Tobacco industry suppressed truth about cigarettes for a long time, caffeine industry doing same thing. Saying things like "Oh but coffee is good for you!", sure idk much about pure coffee, but the caffeine in the coffee is no different than meth. It's just weaker, same effects, same addiction. Top that on with sugar addiction and the very sweet taste of some coffees or teas or whatever and you've got a highly addictive substance that people want more and more of. You might have a craving for coffee/tea but meth addicts also have a craving for meth. Sorry for the little rant but just something I had to say. Of course people won't collapse to death because of caffeine like in WWII (those were extreme circumstances, with extreme physical labour and whatnot). But in general, because of less and less sleep and people feeling less of the need for sleep, in the long run it damages them mentally. Cutting your sleep from 8 hours to 7 hours a night is equivalent to skipping one day of sleep, think of people doing that day in and day out for many many years. If you're gonna ween yourself off of caffeine drink decaf, might pseduoscience your brain or whatever into thinking it has caffeine in it. But yeah I would reccomend you see a doctor about that but then again medicine/big pharma is influenced by caffeine industry telling them that caffeine addiction is not an issue, doctor would probably tell you coffee is perfectly safe/fine and even good for you if it stops the headache and you can consume it if you want (imagine telling a meth addict that), and might prescribe you some pills or some shit. I'm no expert on addiction man but I reccomend you do your own research on how to ween yourself off of this addiction if you want to/care about your longterm health. If you don't though that's cool too :) I don't judge people based on their life choices lol. Just saying random words :P
